Anglers Advisory

The Rio Blanco, The Weminuche Creek and the Piedra River’s are world class fly fishing destinations and as such our fisheries are one of our most prized assets.  To ensure that they will always be that way, we ask that you follow a few simple guidelines.

OUR RIVERS ARE STRICTLY CATCH AND RELEASE

All fish should be handled with care and released as quickly and carefully as possible. Please handle the fish as little as possible. If you must touch the fish, always wet your hands prior to doing so. Keep the fish in the water as much as possible. Release the fish in an upright position and assist the fish in recovering until it is able to swim away on its own power. Please use a catch and release friendly net. Do not “beach” your catch on the rocks or shore to release it.

FLY FISHING ONLY

All fishing on the ranch is limited to fly fishing only. This means the use of single barbless hooks and artificial flies, on a fly line, on a fly rod and reel. All barbed hooks must be crimped. NO spin-cast or lure fishing. NO live, artificial or man-made bait of any kind is to be used at any time under any circumstances without managers consent.

If you have been fishing anywhere else in the last six months we will need to inspect and clean your waders and boots before you fish.

We practice fly fishing alternating sections of our rivers so they are not over-fished. Average rest could be up to 48 hours for some more popular beats.

A valid Colorado fishing license is required at all times, yes even on private property. License may be purchased prior to your arrival online or at one of our friendly fly shops. See right margin for links.

Management reserves the right to suspend fishing at any time due to weather or climate conditions that may pose a threat to the safety of anglers (lightning) or the survival of trout (high water temperatures).  Management also reserves the right to suspend a guest’s fishing privileges should we feel our guidelines are not being adhered to.  Should you have any questions or comments please feel free to contact ranch manager and lead fishing guide, David Leibson at 970-264-4459.
